How Does LEGO Rental Work?
If you've never rented a LEGO set before, the idea can sound more complicated than it is. Here's the short version: you pick a plan, we send LEGO sets to your door, your kids build and play, and when they're ready for something new, the set goes back and the next one arrives. No repurchasing, no growing pile of boxes in the closet. Here's exactly how LEGO rental works, step by step.
Step 1: Choose a Plan
Brick Builds offers two simple plans — Starter and Explorer — based on how many sets your family wants in rotation each month and how often you'd like new builds arriving. You're not locked in: you can change plans or cancel anytime, so there's no pressure to guess right on day one.
Step 2: Pick Your First Sets
Once you're signed up, you choose sets from our full catalog, filtered by theme, age range, and set size. Building a Star Wars X-wing one month and a Friends café the next is part of the appeal — kids get variety they'd never get from a single purchased set.
Step 3: We Ship, You Build
Sets arrive with all original pieces and instructions, ready to build. Every set is checked and cleaned between rentals — see our sanitization process for the full rundown if that's a question on your mind (it's a common one, and a fair one to ask).
Step 4: Send It Back When You're Ready
There's no rigid deadline breathing down your neck. When your family is done with a set — whether that's after a weekend or a few weeks — box it back up using the included return label. Shipping is free both ways.
Step 5: The Next Set Arrives
As soon as your return is on its way, your next pick starts heading to you. That's the whole rotation: pick, play, return, repeat — for as long as you want to stay subscribed.
What About Missing Pieces?
Kids lose pieces. It happens, and it's genuinely fine — Brick Builds' plans include missing-piece protection, so a stray brick under the couch cushion isn't going to show up as a surprise charge. Full details are on our FAQ page.
Why Families Choose Rental Over Buying
A LEGO habit can get expensive fast, and sets pile up once the novelty wears off. Renting keeps the excitement of a “new” set arriving regularly without the growing collection taking over a playroom. If you're weighing whether that trade-off makes sense for your family, we break down the actual cost comparison in LEGO Rental vs. Buying LEGO Sets.
